The Fossil Record
nThe theory of evolution is based on two major
suppositions:
nMutations and
natural selection supposedly provided the mechanism
nThe fossil record
allegedly proved the “fact” of evolution
nFossils should “prove” evolution
since the fossil record has long been considered as the main evidence for evolution
nThe creation model predicts that organisms preserved as fossils will correspond to the
same classification
system as applicable to present-day plants and animals
