nFlagella and cilia
are made of a number of different protein
components:
nThree types of microtubuals - singlet, doublet, and triplet - composed of a and b
tubulin
nNexin to separate the tubuals
nProtein spokes connecting tubuals to maintain a constant diameter
nSpoke heads
nDynein arms that interact with adjacent
microtubuals
nA basal plate
nEach of these
components must be present if the flagella
or cilia is to work.
