Can I Believe the Bible? - 2
nThere are many evidences for the existence of God and the truth of the Bible
nHowever, for someone committed to naturalism, no amount of evidence will do
n“Apologetics is not for proving the Word of God but simply for providing a basis for faith” (Josh McDowell)
n1 Peter 3:15 “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
nTrue faith satisfies both the heart and the intellect
Even though there is remarkable new evidence that God authored the Torah, there have always been persuasive arguments that God must exist for those who are open to the possibility. Unfortunately, some people are committed to a world-view of “naturalism”, the idea that nature is “all there is”, and this new evidence is not likely to change their opinion.
Christianity is a religion which is intended to fully satisfy both the heart and the mind. Contrary to the opinion of some, there is no need for a Christian to “check their brain” when entering the church door. The Bible and the actual facts of science are entirely compatible with each other.
The Bible exhorts us to have a ready answer when people ask why we have faith. These need to be concrete, logical reasons, not just that it “feels right” or because “someone told me so”.
