Chris Ashcraft' Biography  

Chris W. AshcraftEDUCATION:
- Bachelor of Science in biology from Wayland Baptist University 1989.
- Master of Science in biology from Texas Tech University 1996.
- Master of Education from University of Washington 2008.
Following graduation from TTU, Ashcraft spent two years in a Genetics PhD program at Oklahoma State University, then accepted a position as a Plant Transformation Specialist for EDEN Bioscience. He is currently enrolled in a Masters of Education program at the University of Washington.

PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS: biotechnology, molecular biology, and gene-transfer techniques. Mr. Ashcraft was a research technician for ~10 years, and specialized in plant tissue culture, and genetic transformations. He has cultured and genetically transformed numerous crops such as wheat, rice, tobacco, Arabidopsis, etc., but has worked with cotton much more extensively. Ashcraft started in cotton tissue culture at the "Cotton Fiber Production Laboratory" at TTU beginning in 89, then later assisted a cotton transformation project among others while providing technical support at the OSU "Plant Transformation Facility, and more recently transformed cotton with 3 gene constructs for EDEN Bioscience in Bothell Washington.

MISSIONS: Mr. Ashcraft has been called to serve as a missionary in the field of creation science, and was led from research into teaching. He now teaches high school science classes and Creation Apologetics at North Sound Christian Schools where Biblical integration is encouraged. Other creation science mission activities include:

RECREATION: Ashcraft enjoys almost any sort of recreational activity, and still works-out regularly to stay physically fit. He probably spends more time playing first-person computer games than any other type, but has played many sports extensively such as racquetball and softball. His favorite outdoor activities are snowboarding, mountain biking, and SCUBA diving .
